Today, we’re taking a look at the Remington F7790 Comfort 360 Foil Electric Shaver. We all remember the famous Remington adverts in which the president of the company declares; “When my wife bought me a Remington shaver, I was so impressed I bought the company”! It’s nice to know the president of the company was so passionate about his product, but are Remington shavers really that good. We’re going to take the F7790 for a spin and find out!

One of things that immediately jumps out about the Remington F7790 foil shaver is that the foils are coated with Teflon and Titanium. The Titanium makes the foils 300% harder and resistant to damage making them much longer lasting. The Teflon coating makes them 45% smoother than standard steel foils, and what this means is that friction is greatly reduced. Ultimately, less friction means less skin irritation.

Further reducing skin friction and irritation, the Remington F7790 also includes Flex and pivot technology. The multi-direction pivoting heads adjusts automatically to follow the contours of the face, neck, chin and jawline. The Remington F7790 has a powerful battery which provides 60 minutes of shaving time on a single charge. It’s also a very quick charging battery. If you attempt to shave and you find the battery drained, a quick 5 minute charge will give you enough power for a full shave. The F7790 also comes with a charging stand for easy charging, and a built digital display which tell you exactly how much shaving time is left in the battery.

To top off the package, a cleaning brush and travel pouch is also included.

The Remington F7790 has clearly been selling very well, and there is a lot of customer chatter online about this particular model. The majority of customer feedback was very positive, and over 70% of buyers were please with their purchase, rating the F7790 with 4 or 5 stars. That said, a 30% rate of dissatisfaction is quite a high number and there some to be some disagreement about this shaver.

First off the bat, we’ll take a look at the positive points. Almost every review mentioned that the Remington F7790 is solid and well constructed. Sturdiness is definitely important in a shaver, simply because it’ll see so much use in it’s lifetime. The good news is that the F7790 is strong enough to hold up to stress of daily use.

People also found the battery indicator to be very useful. A lot of shavers simply use a graphic to display how much charge is left in the battery, but the Remington F7790 foil shaver actually tells you exactly how minutes of shave time there is left. Quite a few people mentioned that the display is extremely accurate, narrowing down to the exact minute that the battery is going to die. That’s great, as it’s so common to forget to charge your shaver and then only find out at the last minute when it’s too late to give it a charge (although with the quick charge option of the F7790, you can still get a full shave in that situation).

On to the shaving, as this is the point on which customers began to disagree. The overwhelming majority of customers were happy with the shaving results; saying that the Remington F7790 gave a close a gentle shave.

However, of all the negative reviews of the Remington F7790 that we uncovered, almost all of them pointed to the fact that they didn’t think they got a very good shave from it. Reviewers mentioned that it left patches of hair untouched, and that they had to stretch and move the skin in a variety of directions to find an effective shaving angle. Some people suggested that the F7790 didn’t cope well with long stubble, whereas some people found that it didn’t work well if they shaved every day either. Whilst the majority of people were happy with the shave, a good 30% of customers felt it wasn’t particularly good.

Overall, the Remington F7790 foil shaver is a tough one to call. The majority of customers were very happy with the purchase, and it gains points for that. However, we simply can’t ignore a 30% rate of dissatisfaction and for that reason the FF7790 gets marked down considerably. Chances are you’re going to find that this shaver gives you a good shave, but do be aware that it doesn’t suit everyone before ordering. Ideally, we’d recommend a foil shaver with a higher satisfaction rate, such as the Panasonic Premium ES-RF31. For that reason, we’re giving the F7790 a middling 3 stars.
